About us

Hampton Hill School is nestled in parklike surroundings in the hills of Tawa. The school opened in 1965 with foundation members being drawn, not just from the Tawa Region but also transferring from as far away as Wilton, Kilbirnie, Paraparaumu and Kelburn.

Hampton Hill became a contributing school in 1975 and presently provides education for students in Years 0 to 6. It is renowned for its "family" atmosphere and families often return for this reason if leaving and returning to the community.

The school's grounds are extensive and are made up of three levels. Classroom Blocks are situated some minutes apart with a hall and playing field on a level in between.

It is a well resourced school, which places high priority on having staff conversant with the requirements of modern education and committed to ongoing training.

Mediation is practiced within the school which is a process to provide students with the skills to talk things through in an environment that promotes healthy and constructive attitudes towards conflict.

Students learn to listen to another point of view, confidently state their point of view and then talk out a solution that satisfies them. This leads to a greater understanding of each other.

Parents and caregivers provide high levels of support for all school activities and initiatives.
